ran OlyMusic.com from 2002-2008, and blogged about musical experiences in and around Olympia, WA.
I went to the yes yes to hear the grizzle grazzle and it was nice. there was lots of wonderful energy and people dancing, including a bunch youngsters who really started the dancing. esmerelda strange and the one man banjo and jordan o jordan were all lots of fun to listen. They all impressed me with their ability to do so much and rock it solid and interesting. I'm off to voyeur to hear glass elevator now.
So, part of the time since my last post has included Spring Break, during which there was a lot of great oly music experienced. On Sunday, April 2nd, there was a benefit for Free Radio Olympia 98.5 FM http://frolympia.org at the Eagles Hall, with 4 and 20 bands, although I counted 6 and 20 off one of the flyers, hmm, let's see... Alright, I've got the program that says Pizza T's Z Kamp Experience, Incendiary, Meru, New Mustache, The Gay Science, Glass Elevator, Governors of Predator, Shadow Guardians, Dance Attack, Station Wagon Revolution, Gyununu and the Science Fun Station, Sundance Kids, Shizuno, Mike Mercker, Yes Please, The Pasties, and Coiler. I play drums with Z Kamp, so I remember that pretty well, from the inside out. It felt like a pretty decent set we did. It took some getting used to the acoustics of the ballroom. Incendiary played after us. I remember they rocked it. Meru felt to me like ocean waves pummeling me while someone grabbed my head and shook it around.. That sounds bad at first, but it was actually quite pleasant and soothing mostly. Add sunlight to the mix and make the ocean caribbean. I think I was somewhere else for a lot of stuff, cuz there were three floors, and all day, and all kinds of stuff happening, so, lemme see, I remember spinning around some during the Glass Elevator set, kicking the hacky-sack around at the tail of the days events while there was some tight raps and beats. Mike Mercker impressed me with how he can make time slow down and draw people into his personal paradigm of time and perception while he plays. The Pasties always make me smile, and they did it again. 'Cept I think I called Judd Jed when I bumped into him early in the day. I know he's Judd, my brain wasn't firing properly at that time I guess. Sorry 'bout that Judd. And Coiler as always played a nice set that made me feel refreshed and contemplative. So, that was Sunday April 2nd experience
Friday March 31st I saw
SOUR OWL live @ Tugboat Annies. They rocked it funky with 2 saxophonists and a sweet full band sound.

Bill Skins 5th Will Punch You Right In The Face!
@ the ABC House
That was a lot of fun. It's a great place and the other bands were terrific!
The night before that we played Le Voyeur. It was fun. I wore a suit and blue sunglasses. I couldn't see, there were bright lights. It sounded good at the time, there's no recording, so you'll have to go back in time if you want to hear it.
Some time over Spring Break there was a
Gleaners Coalition event at which
Fast Rattler played.
I enjoyed the music very much, and highly recommend checking out their music and the
Gleaners. Oh, and the
StickFigure Strippers rocked it at LeVoyeur, and so did SeaMonster.
