Went to Franco's Open mic at Jordan Emily's again tonight. Such talented people get up and do their thing! This is the 3rd time I've headed over there for this, and I've been very happy that I did every time. Also had breakfast there this morning. They have vegetarian biscuits and gravy, which is something Amanda can't resist. Also grits. The broccoli in the veggie omelette I had was so crisp and delicious, you must try it. Amanda had a eggs her way, which meant the breakfast burrito turned into a mexi-omelette. We shared the biscuits and gravy. The hash-browns were good. But enough about breakfast, this is about music, but music is what got me there in the first place so that I knew I would like to go eat breakfast there. Anyhow, I got a flyer , and one of Franco's "It's Franco!" CD's which I just listened to and enjoyed. There are some new songs on there that I haven't heard him sing solo or with Locust Street Taxi yet. The poetry and music at this open mic was too intense for me to describe accurately. It has been all along. I think I heard someone read a poem about burning Bush - going after him with torches like the villagers do in the Frankenstein movie type thing. The life affirming joy in some of the songs people are singing makes me feel good. So does Jordan Emily's ice cream and cheesecake with blueberry compote (I think that's what the warm blueberry sauce is called) poured over top, and some hot coffee. Ah.
