Happy Easter! Last night's show at Le Voyeur was beyond my descriptive ability. Suffice it to say, I am glad that I was there, and I intend to be at the show on the 8th of April at the 4th ave tav, and get an A-Kamp CD. JesusBurger had a theremin with an antenna, and that was neat, they also had a megaphone, and they were very loud - they had many samples of thought and emotion provoking things, and while it was near deafeningly loud, it was intriguing at the same time. The groovebox sampler or whatever it was, had bass tones that permeated through all. And the theremin has a range and quality that I haven't previously observed in a theremin. Ok, now that I have mentioned about JesusBurger, I'm warmed up enough to at least say that A-Kamp was in fine form, Tommy wore a glove while playing guitar, Genius was like a bull on parade with the bass, Larstafari was a whirlwind of wonderment and glee and extroverted introspection, and Davis was like one of Bob Marley's 3 little birds, with a baseball cap, jumping up and down. They played more when they had been done, cause everyone was like "Yeah! Encore! Encore!", and permission was gotten from the bartender to play for 5 more minutes during last call. Today is Easter, and is feels like the world is Springing forth anew. We arrived in time to hear the last couple songs from GUYVE, from the other room, and they sounded really good. Also, someone let me know I had been pronouncing it wrong. I've been rhyming it with jive, but it's more like guava. I'm still not sure how it's said. Anyhow, when I got home I watched "What the Bleep do we know?" before I feel asleep, and it got me to thinking about water and resonance, and then this morning when I woke up I put on a magical healing MANTRAS cd, with Sanskrit chanting, and when that ended, Mac Dawg's cd, "The Gift to Mankind, Free Will" came on and I tripped out to the lyrics on that for a while, giving them a closer listen than I had before, and then "The Elegies meet Propaganda Panda" came on, and I listened to that, and decided I should really write those guys an email to let them know how much I enjoyed their show last Spring, and then the Sedan cd that I got at Yeah! fest came on, and then the A-Kamp album preview CD, that I can't get out of my head. All the intense lyrics in the Mac Dawg, and the Propaganda Panda cd's makes me want to have a spot where I can go read lyrics. The eSKPees have lyrics on their page, and it sure makes it more accessible. Anyhow, Love to all.
I went to the 4th Ave Tavern to see King Fu, cuz I have a co-worker in the band, and he played me some tracks that rock, at work, and I went to see them at the 4th Ave one other time, when they were called Godzillion, and it was pretty good stuff. Brien at the 4th Ave recently left this world. The band dedicated the show to him. It was sobering, even while drinking, and acknowledging that King Fu does rock. Several people spoke well of him. I don't know how large a part he has had in the music revival at the 4th Ave lately, but there has been a remarkable amount of good music there recently, and it was mentioned that he was the one who had booked the show, and that he normally is at the door. It made me wish I knew him, and told him how awesome I think all the music at the 4th has been lately.
I went to Tugboat Annie's Thrursday night and it was the most packed that I've ever seen. It was hard to walk through the room. There was dancing and the music was hot. I've never been to Mardi Gras, but I guess it was like a little bit of it came to Tugboats. Check out the band's website:

It was nice to meet Steve who had a big hand in putting the show together, and also was involved in putting together the Zen Tricksters/Watermelon Sugar show at the 4th Ave Tavern recently. The show production/promotion group is

Interesting article from NW Louisiana that mentions Olympia. I hadn't heard of R Records before.
